       CHRIST ON A BIKE--

Still need some sleep. Although now it's more of a question of the combination of heat, humidity, and smoke from these fucked-up fires up in trhe mountains.

As concerns the last post, I'll will remain friends with the friend I had realized I'd fallen in love with. Our mutual friend
pointed out that I had neglected to mention that she is gay,.so really, friendship is all I could really hope for.In fact,I consider myself lucky to have such a person as a friend. I'm not going to tell her of how I feel because it was pointed out to me that it would'nt make things any easier.Very true. Some times you need to have the painfully obvious explained to you,in a painfully obvious manner
(eternal thanks to you weaselusrex). And ,as the other person I discussed this with suggested, she has probably already sussed it
out for herself..If that's the case, she probably thinks the whole thing is pretty funny..And that's okay by me.

Now if I could just get some sleep.

    God I need to sleep

         CHRIST-ON-A-BIKE----

I need to sleep. I've been awake ,sporadically speaking, all night. Now, I'm fully aware that this is
largely because I haven't been  grocery shopping, and for the last few days when I've felt hungary, I've been
drinking coffee(do not do this at home kids). I also realize that all the medical drama that my brother and I
have been involved in, in the last 4 months could fuel at least 2 seasons of "Grey"s Anatomy"(a show that I find my self watching even though I despise it,go figure). And this does not help. But the main culprit here is
emotional turmoil. Now, I just turned 52, I'M NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HAVING EMOTIONAL TURMOIL(S).

I have realized,to my chagrin that I have fallen in love with someone, not in like, not in lust, but in
love. Now I just turned 52, I'M NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FALLING IN LOVE.But I have. With a friend. Someone
that distance and circumstance would normally determine to be not a close friend. But someone I've always had
a large amount of admiration and respect for.Someone that when I do spend time with,we always have a good time. She's beautiful physically, she's an actor(she's a member of a theatre company near where she lives) ,a teacher(she's finishing up her Master's program in Special Ed.
at CSULA), and intensely dedicated to both pursuits. She's very intelligent, literate, talented , funny as hell, and posessed
of a huge heart. Did I mention  that I've fallen in love with her? Did I mention nothing's ever gonna come of it?

Part of me wants to look her in her huge green eyes and tell her how I feel, even though that's proved to have cruel consequences for me in the past. Some would say to end the friendship. But that wouldt make me feel worse..And actually, I think it would make her feel bad as well. I think she holds a certain amount of value in
all her friends. And that's one more thing I love about her.

So why am i posting this? I guess I thought if I read about my predicament on screen, it would heip me to deal with it. It hasn't though.

             God I need to sleep.

    Concerning Proposition 8
When Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence,he introduced the concept that all people(he actually said all men
but I like to think he ment all people) were endowed by their creator, the rights to life, liberty, and, the pusuit of happiness. It seems to me
that if goverment(be it civil, county, state,or federal) refuses to allow a section of the population the LIBERTY  to live their LIFE in a way
that brings them HAPPINESS, then everything thing this country was founded on,and everything this country has ever stood for is
    meaningless bullshit.

Gotta go now. I have a headache.

    Moving images on a screen.

On  Oct.3rd, Sony Pictures Classics(cause it ain't a classic unless it's a SONY PICTURES classic.)
will release "Rachel Getting Married",directed by Jonathan Demme, acted by Ann Hathaway,Debra Winger
Bill Irwin, and bunch of other talented folks.I found out about this film by reading a review in "Rolling Stone".
Normally, I don't put much stock in film or music reviews(especially the ones in "Rolling Jello"),but this one made me curious enough to check out the trailer(at sonypicturesclassics.com).I am now so curious,I plan to
to see said film this weekend.Anyone who would like to accompany me can contact me at

                                                                mandomonk@yahoo.com

I think it would be cool to see some thing that is an actual film and  not a fucking glorified amusement
    park ride(did I actually say that,SOOOOOOO SORRY).

    Soooo-

The folks at Shout Factory Music and Video(the same folks who ran Rhino Music
and Video, and sold it to Time--Warner for a nice sized chunk of cash) have released all 19
episodes of the now legendary ABC series "My So-Called Life" on DVD. Best known for launch-
-ing Claire Danes' acting career in earnest,it was in my humble opinion one of the best written
and most well acted shows in the history of network television(which explains why ABC cancelled it
after only 19 episodes). It comes in the usual boxed set with book and commentaries from famous
fans like Janene Garofalo and Joss Whedon. It's list price is $70.00,but if you get it from Amazon
    it's only $45.00. If you're interested.

Also for you Beatles fans,Capitol has released "Help",the Mop Tops 2nd film (yes the one in color) on DVD. It also comes in a box, with a second disc of I'm assuming extras, outakes and
the like(I wonder if there's any shots of them smoking the copious amounts of pot that they par-
took of during filming). List price is $29.99,Amazon price: $21.99. Again,if you're interested.

          3. For fans of that wonderful all girl string band Uncle Earl--Rounder Records has a promotional video
on YOUTUBE  a "behind the scenes" thing for their latest CD "Waterloo,Tenn."  It features CD producer
John Paul Jones(yes that's right, he of Led Zeppelin reknown) at one point playing a boogie--Woogie version
of "Misty Mountain Hop" on piano. And a tiny cameo by Gillian Welch. And if you don't have a copy of
    "Waterloo,Tenn." by Uncle Earl---

    My Own Private Bandwagon

I know I haven't been up on the latest TV bandwagons(Lost,Smallville,
Heroes,American Idol, etc.),but  last night,I climbed aboard my own private
bandwagon. It's called "The Black Donnelys"(NBC,10pm,Monday).From
the creative mind of screenwriter/director Paul Haggis(Million Dollar Baby,
Crash,Flags of Our Fathers,Letters From Iwo Jima) it tells the tale of a family
of Irish underworld figures, and the artistically gifted brother, who tries to steer
them towards redemption, but is doomed to follow in their footsteps. It has
well written characters, earthy dialog, gritty cinematography, and a shaggy dog sense of humor(My favorite line:"A lot of people think all us Irish are good for
is drinkin' and fightin'.It makes me wanna get drunk and hit somebody").It also had some moments of brutal violence, but such is the nature of the world it depicts. If you missed the pilot last night(Mon.)I would recommend
picking up on it next week. It's a good show to heal up from foot surgery to!
